Securing the Foundations in Writing Training and Resources

COMING SOON – Securing the Foundations in Writing training for Year 1, Year 2 and for mixed Year 1/2 classes, delivered by Paul Singleton.

To give early writers the best possible start, research highlights the importance of building strong foundations. This includes a sharp focus on oral composition, high‑quality sentence instruction and the development of early transcription skills. By keeping things simple and doing them well, children are better supported to succeed in writing.
In this training session, delegates will explore how to effectively structure the curriculum for early writers in Year 1 and Year 2. The focus will be on ensuring teaching approaches and assessment strategies are well matched to children’s needs, supporting them on their journey towards becoming fluent, independent writers.

This session has previously been delivered as part of the RISE agenda, and all resources are included as part of the training package.
